6 Tips to Maintain Weight Loss

Congratulations!! You've lost the weight you've been working so hard to lose. Now, how do you keep it off?

I'll share some of my own tips for helping to keep the weight off that you worked so hard to take off.

1. Stay accountable to yourself. Weigh yourself either once or twice a week. In order to maintain your weight you need to know how much you weigh.

2. If you do gain one pound or two, make the changes today that will aid you in taking off that one pound or two. You know how to lose weight, you've done it before. Lose that one pound before it turns into 5 or 10.

3. You know your weaknesses. If keeping chips out of the house is what it takes, then continue to keep the chips out of the house. If planning out meals so that you know what you'll be eating each day is helpful, then keep doing it.

4. If you've been journaling, then consider continuing to journal what you eat. It is very easy to slip back into old patterns without even realizing what is happening. If you journal what you are eating, then the words are right there in front of your eyes.

5. Continue to make exercise part of your everyday routine. Consider changing what you do for exercise. Play tennis, take a swim, take a walk, take an aerobics class, take a dance class, ride a bike. Mix it up, but keep exercise in your daily routine.

6. Don't skip meals. As you learned during the weight loss period, your body does better with 3-5 meals a day, versus just one meal a day. Stay in the habit of eating at least 3 meals per day.

As you learned during weight loss, do not deprive yourself, instead take the necessary steps above to take off that one or two pounds and get back to the weight that is right for you.

3 Fun Weight Loss Exercises To Burn Fat Without The Grunt

Do you love exercise? Chances are if you did you will probably not have any weight issues. Exercise is still the number one way to burn fat and lose weight. Even with a mediocre diet you can still stay in shape as long as you are active and get enough of the right exercise. I've always been in the camp of eating what I love but making up for my eating sins with my hard work in the gym.

The real secret to making this work for you is that you have to make exercise fun. Its got to be something that you absolutely love doing. As long as its painful and something that you look up to every day you will always look for excuses and you will always try and find a way out. Most of all, it won't last. If you want to lose weight with exercise it takes weeks of sustained effort. Its not a 2 or 3 week thing. So, how can you make exercise fun? Here are my 3 top tips:

1. Swimming - who does not love swimming? The fact that its a low impact exercise and that it involved so many muscle groups makes it a terrific form of exercise. Its important that you start working yourself up to swimming laps in a pool and varying your stroke is also a great way to vary the workout. 3o to 40 minutes a day is great exercise and will do wonders for weight loss.

2. Tennis - if the gym bores you or if you just hate the whole vibe at the gym, why not take up a sport. Its much more social and is a lot more fun. I suggest a high speed sport like tennis, but you can look into things like hockey, squash or racket ball. Sport is a great way to lose weight without even thinking about it.

3. Group Fitness Classes - One of the newer trends in fitness is group fitness programs. It comes in a lot of shapes and sizes but for the most part its a group of 10 to 20 people training under a personal trainer. It can be very sociable and most of the time its held in public parks which makes it a great opportunity to get outside and have fun with others who are probably on the same fitness level as you.

Lose 10 Pounds in a Week - Drinking Water and Weight Loss

Have you ever struggled to lose weight? Maybe you are on a diet program and you exercise everyday, but still fail to lose any significant weight. But wait a minute. There could be a reason why shedding excess pounds is so hard. Do you know that your body can store 5 to 10 pounds of water weight? Before you go on any weight loss program, let's discuss how drinking water and weight loss go hand and hand.

The problem why most people cannot lose weight is that they do not drink enough water. You must understand that the human body is roughly 70 to 75 percent water so you must give it what it wants. The body works in this manner. Let's say for instance you only drink 2 glasses of water a day. This clearly is not enough water for the body to function properly. The body needs that water to survive so it will go into "storing mode". Once in storing mode, the body will collect as much water that it can out of juices, sodas and other drinking products. The body will even try to absorb water through your pores during a shower just to get what it craves. So the little water your body is collecting over time is being stored and stored, which causes an increase in weight.

So what is the solution? The solution is to drink plenty of water daily. At least 8 glasses of water throughout the day to keep the body hydrated. When your body adjusts to the constant flow of water its taking in it thinks, "Well I have plenty of water coming in, I can get rid of the excess". The body will then allow more water to leave the body, allowing you to lose the water weight that is holding you down.

It is recommended that before your start any weight loss program, you should drink plenty of water routinely. Drinking plenty of water will not only shed 10 - 15 pounds off of you quickly, it will also cleanse your body of radicals and contaminants.
